Dan Chemotti is back for his second season as assistant men's lacrosse coach at Loyola College. A former Duke lacrosse player and assistant coach at Dartmouth and St. John's, Chemotti also serves as Loyola's offensive coordinator.
Chemotti graduated from Duke University in 2002, where he helped the Blue Devils claim back-to-back ACC Championships during his junior and senior seasons. During his time in Durham, N.C., Duke advanced to the NCAA playoffs all four years, reaching the NCAA Quarterfinals three times. A team captain his senior year, Chemotti was awarded the school's Roy Skinner Award for Dedication and Sacrifice.
He immediately began his coaching career upon graduation, serving as an assistant coach at Dartmouth College from 2002 to 2004. While with the Big Green, he concentrated his efforts on coaching the offense and training the face-off men. In 2004, Dartmouth's offense ranked third nationally in assist percentage and fifteenth nationally in team offense. In 2003, Dartmouth's face-off percentage was good enough to finish ninth in the country.
After a two-year stint as assistant men's lacrosse coach at St. John's, Chemotti joined the Greyhounds and led Loyola to its best offensive season since 2002. The 2007 Greyhounds scored over 10 goals per game, including explosive 19-goal and 17-goal efforts in back-to-back games against ECAC foes Fairfield and Hobart.
In addition to coaching, Chemotti plays lacrosse professionally as a midfielder for the New Jersey Pride. He has been a member of the Pride since 2003 and also played one season (2003) in the National Lacrosse League (NLL) for the New Jersey Storm.
A native of Skaneateles, N.Y., Chemotti played high school lacrosse for West Genesee in Syracuse, where he was named All-America and the Central New York Player of the Year in his senior campaign. Chemotti helped lead the Wildcats to a Class-A New York State Championship his senior year and to a runner-up finish his junior season.
