Men's Golf Posts 303 In First Round At Carlton Oaks Invitational

Michael Mulieri posted a 36-hole score of 146 to the lead the Greyhounds at the Carlton Oaks Invitational on Monday afternoon in Santee, Calif. Loyola registered a Day One team total of 613, and after two rounds, hold fourth place in the 11-team field.

Senior Matt Bassler dropped a 75 in his first round, while fellow senior Chris Derby scored a 77. The Greyhounds also added a 79 from freshman Alex Redfearn to close out the round with a score of 303. Freshman Keith Hall, who didn't figure into the Round One scoring for Loyola, ended the round with an 82.

Mulieri, who posted a 72 in his first round, followed that up with a 74 to put him third among all individuals. Bassler scored a 77 in his second round to give him a total of 152, while Derby's 81 has him at 158. Hall cut four strokes off his first round score to give the Greyhounds a second round 310.

Point Loma Nazarene leads the field with a team score of 595. Utah Valley State and host Drake round out the top three. Tuesday's final round begins at 10 a.m. on the West Coast.
