Returning for his seventh season at Loyola, Tony Buchman will lead the freshman squads during the 2005-2006 campaign.

Buchman was the head coach of the men's varsity crew team from 2000 to 2002, serving as the Interim Director of Men's and Women's Rowing during the 2000-2001 season. During his interim status, he led the varsity men to a silver medal at the Avaya Collegiate Championships. Buchman also served as the men's freshman coach in 1999-2000 and again in 2002-03, where he developed Loyola's young talent into championship-caliber rowers. Since 2003, he has also led the novice women's squads. Those same novice squads played key roles in Loyola winning back-to-back Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference women's rowing titles the last two seasons, including a first place finish in the novice 8 in 2005.

A 1997 graduate of Clemson University, Buchman earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and was part of many successful crews as a member of the Tigers' heavyweight program. He raced to over 25 victories and 40 top-three finishes over the course of his college career. During his rowing days in Clemson, Buchman also coached the Clemson University novice women's program for two seasons while serving as a member of the team's executive board.

A native of Northern Virginia, Buchman served five years of active duty in the United States Army after graduating from Clemson. In addition to his coaching duties at Loyola College, he currently works as an analyst for a government contractor and resides in Owings Mills, Maryland.
